World Soil Day

In December, ARC Healing Country Centre presented a panel discussion at a World Soil Day event, organised by SoilsWest. Panel speakers Prof Stephen van Leeuwen, A/Prof Rachel Standish, Heidi Mippy, Dr. Adam Cross and Christian Miller-Sabbioni introduced the ARC Healing Country Centre aims and discussed topics such as ecological restoration, carbon, soil and ways of working with Indigenous groups, as well as leading an engaging Q&A to a packed lecture hall.

About World Soil Day
An International day to celebrate soil was recommended by the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) in 2002, with the first official World Soil Day occurring in 2014.
Since 2014, World Soil Day is held annually in December to bring attention to the importance of healthy soil and to advocate for the sustainable management of soil resources.
