Giancarlo Chiarenza

Post Doc Fellow - Restoration

Giancarlo (he/him/his) is a Post Doc in the Restoration Theme of Healing Country in the School of Molecular and Life Sciences at Curtin University. He obtained his PhD at UNSW Sydney (2019-2023) with a thesis titled “Large and in charge? How plant-soil relationships can shape plant success”.

Giancarlo’s research interests are in plant-soil relationships and biogeography, with a focus on the role of soil biotic and abiotic factors in driving plant establishment. As part of Healing Country, his goal is to understand how smart seeding practices (e.g., seed pelleting, microbial inoculation, site amendments) can be used to improve restoration outcomes.
