In June, Healing Country members attended the 2023 AIATSIS Summit in Boorloo (Perth) on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja. Over the 5 day event we heard amazing speakers share their knowledge on Country & Culture, navigating the spaces between sovereignty, research, technology & much more.
There were many take aways from the summit and many highlights too, including Aunty Gail Mabo discussing her father’s legacy, and passing to her son Kaleb to carry it through for future generations. Additionally, reiterating the importance of Indigenous knowledge being recognised, considered and involved alongside Western Science was a large theme in the sessions we attended and align ourselves to.
