Dr Josh Vido

Rangelands NRM

Josh is a soil ecologist with a research background spanning soil health, soil-plant interactions, microbial ecology, and applied land management across agricultural and conservation landscapes.

He completed his PhD at La Trobe University in partnership with Agriculture Victoria and GRDC, investigating how microbial communities can be utilised to understand the mechanisms which drive above-ground productivity and the effectiveness of management and restoration. Subsequently, worked as a postdoctoral researcher on a Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry–funded project identifying biological and physicochemical indicators to assess soil health across different land uses and management practices. Additionally, Josh has contributed to soil ecological projects across diverse Australian ecosystems (i.e., tropical rainforests, restoration sites, farmland and native forests) and has published multiple research papers.

He is now based in Broome with Rangelands NRM, working alongside Traditional Owners, scientists, and land managers to co-design evidence-based conservation and land management programs across the Kimberley region.
