Danilo Urzedo

Post Doc Fellow - Socioeconomics

Danilo Urzedo is a Human Geographer and Research Fellow working in the socioeconomics theme of the ARC Training Centre for Healing Country at the University of Western Australia. His research examines the political geographies of environmental knowledge, technologies, and markets.

Danilo holds a PhD in Human Geography from the University of Sydney and completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Cambridge and CSIRO. He investigates how growing technological innovations in ecosystem restoration and conservation initiatives shape environmental justice, cultural relations, and community benefits. He has experience collaborating with Indigenous and community organisations on land-based carbon abatement projects, biodiversity management, and native seed supply across Australia and Latin America.

As part of Healing Country, he contributes to research on how valuation practices and data governance affect Indigenous leadership in restoration financing, benefit-sharing, and political decision-making. This collaborative work seeks to elevate the diverse values and benefits of Indigenous land stewardship.
